Meeting Minutes – July 24, 2009 Meeting
7:30 pm at the home of Pat Kelly, Eldersburg, MD
- 8:15 pm - Meeting to order by Frank A. Smith, President. Frank thanked Pat Kelly and his friend Peggy Sue for hosting the meeting. Before the meeting we enjoyed Pat’s hospitality of hot dogs and burgers. Thanks, Pat & Peggy!
- Frank welcomed members and one guest – Peggy Sue, a friend of Pat Kelly’s. Thanks for coming out! There were 24 members at the meeting – Carroll Anderson, Earl & Jody Chesley, Chris Haczewski & Michelle Cookson, Rich & Lynn Hoff, Pat Kelly, Rick Parrish & Susan Dudley, Jim & Linda Riggs, Butch & Sissy Riley, Paul & Lynda Schneider, Gary Shipley, Frank A. Smith, John & Janet Stein, Gary & Teresa Stonesifer, Ed & Marsha Zimmerman.
- The minutes of the June 9, 2009 meeting were approved as posted on the website and published in the June newsletter.
- Treasurer’s Report was given by Carroll Anderson with a nice ending balance.
- Web Master’s Report was given by Sissy Riley - Visit our website at www.hmccc.50G.com. Sissy keeps the website updated constantly with new additions to the Calendar of Events, new photos and more.
- Newsletter Editor’s Report was given by Carroll Anderson. Submissions to the July newsletter should be made by July 25.
Announcements:
- Get Well wishes to Susan Shipley who recently had sinus surgery.
- Birthday wishes go to Ken Jones who will turn 90 on August 17.
Old Business:
- Speakers – we are very happy with the set up at Celebrate Damascus. After renting 2 different set ups, it was voted to purchase new speakers & speaker stands for $455.68 (plus the $210 for the new cords). We are well below what we had originally budgeted.
- Aug 1 -Fissel’s 50’s Flashback. We will meet at the Mount Airy Burger King at 11:30 and head up.
- Aug. 15 – we discussed our upcoming participation in the Reese VFD Car Show.
- August 29 – Keedysville Ruritan Family Festival Car Display. Large designated area for the cars.
New Business:
- Sissy cleaned out the club trailer at Celebrate Damascus and requested that we purchase some clear containers to store items in the club trailer so we can easily see what is in them. We voted to purchase clear containers and one 100’ heavy duty extension cord to keep in the club trailer.
Monthly Committee Reports:
- T-shirt Design – Sissy Riley & Linda Riggs – DONE!
- Frederick Flea Market March 27-28 – Jim Riggs. DONE!
- Spring Cruise – May 2 – Marsha Zimmerman. DONE!
- Review of Barefoot Bernies Cruise In – Saturday, May 30 – Earl Chesley. DONE!
- Celebrate Damascus –July 11 - Butch Riley with help from Dave Desmarais
We did very well financially.
Follow up meeting was Wednesday, July 22
We voted to participate in the car Cruise-In in 2010, especially if they move the Flea Market to the Activities Grounds.
- Alzheimers Show – September 20 – Earl Chesley.
Earl has contacted & confirmed the auctioneer, John Roop.
We have two new food vendors – Angels Concessions and Hobby Horse Concessions, both of whom were recommended by Road Runners Car Club.
Earl, Butch & Ed to decide where food vendors will be located on field
We decided to put the porta-pots in the same locations as last year
Earl, Butch & Ed will confirm electricity locations & availability.
Earl, Butch & Ed will take a stack of flyers to the MVA.
Sissy will make a poster to hang at MVA.
Need to collect donations from local businesses – Ed, Butch, Jim & Earl. Other members are encouraged to collect items.
Earl, Butch & Ed will come up with a plan to set up the vendor area.
Need to order dash plaques & trophies. Sissy will design the dash plaques & trophies and Linda will order them. We decided to order 300 dash plaques (2”x3”). If we get more than $300 sponsorship, we can order more dash plaques. We had 360 cars registered at last years show.
Earl has been working on ads for the program and we need to get the program done and ordered.
- Club Picnic – Paul & Lynda Schneider. August 22. Earl, Sissy, Marsha & Linda will take care of getting the food, drinks, paper goods, etc.
- Fall Cruise- October 10-11- Linda Riggs encouraged everyone to get their hotel rooms. It will be a great time to the Apple Scrapple Festival in Bridgeville, DE.
- Christmas Party – December 5 – Linda Riggs. More details will come soon!

50/50 Drawing of $11.00 was won by our host, Pat Kelly. Pat donated the $11.00 back to the club. Thanks, Pat!

October 13 - HMCCC monthly meeting – 7:30 pm at the offices of Frall Developers, Inc., Mount Airy
9:13 pm – Meeting was adjourned by Frank A. Smith, President. Afterwards, members were invited to see the goodies in Pat Kelly’s garage.
