Henderson, NC 2007
On Thursday October 18, Jim & Linda in their '57
wagon, Ed & Marsha trailering their modified '57 convertible,
Butch & Sissy in their '55 pickup and friend Bob Wagner trailering
his hemi 'Cuda took off for Henderson, NC for the East Coast Drag
Times Hall of Fame Reunion. We played trivia going down the road using
our cb's and that really made the time pass! Once there, we met up
with Paul, Lynda and Donnie Schneider, Earl Chesley and friends, Bud
& Linda Hahn and Bill and Betty Wilcom. This year, Bill Wilcom
was inducted into the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame. Bud Hahn
was inducted in 2004.
We enjoyed a great time all weekend, with only a smattering of rain
to disrupt a great display at the local car dealership on Friday.
Friday evening, we enjoyed a sumptious free buffet at a welcome reception
at our hotel. On Saturday, over 1,500 cars & trucks lined the
streets of Henderson. We had to walk at least 1/2 mile in either direction
from our parking spaces to see all the cars and nostalgia drag cars.
What a great day!
At awards time, Butch & Sissy's pickup received a Best in Show
Award for their class - 1955 to 1976 pickups - Congratulations!
After the big show, some of us took off for 220 Seafood
Restaurant for dinner - Jim & Linda had won a $25 gift certificate
as a door prize. Afterwards, we cruised around a bit, then some folks
cruised out to the Raleigh Road Drive In Theater to watch Smoky and
the Bandit. At the Drive In, Butch & Sissy won a trophy for Best
Truck! Congratulations again!
Sunday morning, we got to sleep in, then we headed
over for the very nice induction ceremony. Bill Wilcom thanked Heart
of Maryland Classic Chevy Club in his acceptance speech, and we felt
very honored. Afterwards, we enjoyed a wonderful buffet with fresh
fruit, veggies, cheeses, prime rib and chicken, and then we headed
home. Although we got home late, it was a nice drive with great weather!
