HMCCC Spring Cruise

Markets at Shrewsbury, Morris Meadows and Friendly Farms Restaurant
May 14, 2011

May 14 - Spring Cruise, rescheduled - May 14 wasn't sunny or warm, but at least they weren't calling for tornadoes or flash flooding!  So 11 Heart of Maryland Classic Chevy Club members in 5 Chevys and one Oldsmobile, took off for the Markets at Shrewsbury. Frank & Alice were in their '49 Chevy Pickup, John & Janet were in their '57 Chevy BelAir, Butch & Sissy were in their '57 Chevy Reddawg, Ed & Marsha were in their '55 Nomad, Todd Maxwell was in his '57 BelAir,  and Jim & Linda were in their '63 Olds convertible

We did some shopping and just at about lunchtime, Rick Parrish and Sue Dudley joined us for lunch at the Markets.  Rick & Sue then took over the tour director duties and they guided us to the Farmer's Daughter Market and the Mason Dixon Market where we did more shopping.  Then we went to Morris Meadows (past the Morris's Bison Ranch) where Mr. Morris (age 87) gave us a fun and informative tour of his collection of "junk" - we loved it!  Then Rick took us to the dam at Prettyboy Reservoir - it was built between 1924 and 1933 and was fantastic.  A few of us braved traipsing down the long steps to the base of the dam.  It was WOW.
Then Butch took over as leader of the pack, and we went to Friendly Farm in Upperco for a delicious family-style dinner.

We had a wonderful day with great friends and mostly made it home before the heavy rains started coming down, although Frank & Alice got caught and had to pull over for a while. Many thanks to Ed Ruble for arranging a great day!
